Just a few weeks ago, everything was fine. But then came fatigue, hand tremors, speech difficulties. The family initially feared Lyme disease. But tests showed a much more serious diagnosis – Anežka has a rare DIPG brain tumor that cannot be operated on. The average survival time for this diagnosis is very short.
In the Czech Republic, it is possible to start radiotherapy, which temporarily alleviates the symptoms. However, her parents decided to give Anežka a chance for a longer and better quality life – which is why they opted for participation in an experimental treatment program in France. This offers hope for slowing down the disease, which will allow Anežka to gain much-needed time and hope for a major breakthrough in DIPG treatment.
